Countertop Concierge is back to discuss the benefits of using natural stone sealer on your stone countertops at home or at work. Why you need to service your granite, quartz, or marble countertop may not be immediately evident. After all, it looks great and does its job well – that’s why you got a stone countertop instead of laminate one!
The answer may be obvious to you…
Consider the nature of stone, itself. Stones are naturally porous materials and despite being so visibly uniform, there are small gaps present that may allow water and salts to seep in between the pores. Think of your skin and how it absorbs sunlight or excretes sweat. Stone works in a similar manner. Natural stone sealer is recommended to help close these gaps and extend the longevity of your countertop and renew its luster.
How does the sealer work?
Our specialty sealer is a formula that has a smaller surface area than most traditional stone sealers, and because of this small surface area, the sealer is able to penetrate deep into the stone to fill any major cracks and crevices or more minor gaps and chips that may lead to future damage. This sealer used on your stone countertops will also safeguard your counter from stains as produced from wine, coffee, grease, and other oils.
The chemically bound, oily protection offered deep in the pores of your counter by the sealer will act as a water-repellent barrier but not only defend against water ingress (penetration). Natural stone sealer also protects against efflorescence, which is that powdery white film that forms over time on the top of your counters due to salt build-up in the pores of your stone countertop.
Consider getting your stone countertop sealed soon to prevent any damage and unnecessary wear on your property.
